Castello di Laterina, Valdarno, Tuscany
What we get asked most, answered in full. If what you are looking for is not here, just ask: you reach us directly.
From 13:30 onwards. If you arrive earlier you can drop your luggage from 8:00 in the morning and go exploring: no waiting around with suitcases.
By 10:00. On departure day too you can leave your luggage with us and stay out as long as you like.
Until 19:30 one of us is always there to welcome you. For later arrivals there is self check-in: we send you all the instructions in good time, with photos, so you are not searching for anything in the dark.
Yes, with one caveat: the stop is called Laterina but it is in the village of Montalto, about 5 minutes by car from the castle. You cannot walk it. For long-distance trains the reference station is Arezzo, some fifteen kilometres away. If you are coming by train, tell us when you book: we will come and collect you. From Montalto and Ponticino it is 30 €, from Arezzo or Montevarchi 55 €: that is the price of the trip, not per person, for up to four passengers. Paid on arrival.
In free public car parks no more than 200 metres from the apartments. They are quiet and safe, and there is nothing to book or pay. Two hundred metres inside a medieval village means a two-minute walk. Three hundred metres away there are two electric charging points, in a free and quiet car park.
Yes, free in all four apartments.
Every apartment has its own heating, which you control. In summer we provide fans and portable air conditioners. Fixed units cannot be installed: the buildings are protected by the Italian heritage authority, which is the same reason they are still what they are.
Michelangelo is on the ground floor and has no internal stairs: at the entrance there is a single step, 3 cm high. The other three are in historic buildings and have stairs. We do not claim wheelchair accessibility: the doorways and turning spaces are those of fourteenth- and fifteenth-century houses, and we have not measured them. If you have a specific need, write to us before booking: we will go and measure, and answer you in centimetres rather than with an adjective.
Every apartment has a kitchen with everything you need to really cook, not just to heat something up. La Torretta and Lo Sdrucciolo have eat-in kitchens. There is no dishwasher and no washing machine, in any of the four apartments.
Yes, bed linen and towels are included in the price. You need to bring nothing.
Yes, for longer stays. It costs 25 € each time and you choose when.
Just one: the tourist tax. It is not ours, the Comune collects it, and by law it is paid on site. The amount, how many nights it applies to and the age below which it is not due are shown in your quote before you book: the system writes them, so they are always current. It is always listed separately, never hidden inside the total. Everything else — final cleaning included — is already in the price we quote.
No, we do not accept pets. We would rather say so clearly now than have you find out after booking.
Yes, all of them, including babies. The maximum shown for each apartment is a number of people, not of adults: two adults with two children and a baby are five guests. We have no cots or travel beds, so even the smallest guest takes a real bed. Age changes one thing only, the tourist tax, from which the youngest are exempt.
Inside the castle walls there are two greengrocers and a bakery. Just outside you will find a pharmacy, a petrol station, a tobacconist, a pizzeria and a small grocery shop. For a big shop there are supermarkets down in the valley, a few minutes by car.
Just ask us. You reach us directly, and no question is too small: knowing in advance what a staircase is like or where to leave the car is exactly what makes a holiday calm.
