Take the A1 southbound and leave at the Valdarno exit. From there follow the SS69 towards Arezzo: it crosses the valley floor and passes Levane before reaching Laterina.
Take the A1 northbound and leave at the Arezzo exit. From there follow the SS69 towards the Valdarno: the road runs up the valley and passes Ponticino before reaching Laterina.
From either exit the final stretch is the SS69 del Valdarno, the road linking the villages along the Arno. You will recognise the village from a distance: a line of walls and rooftops on the hilltop, above the road.
There is a stop on the regional Valdarno line, between Florence and Arezzo, that carries the name of Laterina. For long-distance trains, including the Frecce, the main station is Arezzo, on the Rome-Florence line, about fifteen kilometres from the village.
The stop is called Laterina but it is in the village of Montalto, about 5 minutes by car from the castle: you cannot walk it. If you are coming by train, tell us when you book and we will give you the right directions.
The most convenient airports are Florence Amerigo Vespucci and Pisa Galileo Galilei, both connected to Arezzo by train. From Arezzo you continue along the SS69, or you can hire a car at the airport itself.
If you are unsure about the last stretch, your arrival time or where to leave the car, write to us before you set off. We are happy to help.
